We have Public, Private and Boarding schools available throughout the U.S. All of our schools vary and offer something different for everyone including schools that are religious, non denominational, co-educational, single gender and programs for learning differences, among many other things.
The population in each school varies. If you prefer to find a smaller boarding school community you can apply to a school with only 100 students enrolled. If you prefer a larger community you can seek a school with over 1,000 students. There’s always a school that fits your specifications.
Yes, we do. J-1 Visa High School Program is a cultural exchange program. Attend a public school in one of many locations across the U.S. while living with a welcoming American host family. You’ll improve your English, make friends and gain leadership skills as you serve as an ambassador of your culture. You can choose either a semester program or an academic year.
Many schools release their decisions by March 10th (for the fall semester) while other schools who follow rolling application deadlines will inform you of their decision within a few weeks of reviewing your file.
You are not required to attend a school for all for years. Some students prefer to come to the US for only 1 year. Although schools love to have students for all 4 years (9th through 12th grade) giving the student optimal opportunity to take full advantage of all the school has to offer, this is not a requirement.

Most boarding schools have residences on campus. These dormitories are always supervised and are gender specific. Most dormitory rooms are set up for a 2 person occupancy, however, this can vary according to the school. Students will have access to wifi, on-campus dining, fitness opportunities and several community spaces.
If you live with a Host family you will be expected to do your own laundry and maintain your personal space. All Boarding Schools have facilities so you can do your own laundry. You will become an expert in no time! Some schools offer outside laundry services, however, these services are usually available at an extra cost. In addition to managing your laundry, you will also be responsible for maintaining your dorm room appropriately. Dorms will have vacuum cleaners available for you to help keep your room tidy. Dorm faculty members will be checking in from time to time to make sure you are keeping your room respectable.
While a few boarding schools do have classes on Saturday mornings, all boarding schools have various opportunities for the students to have recreational time on the weekends. Typically, a schedule of weekend events will be posted at the beginning of the week and you will have your choice to participate in an off-campus supervised event such as shopping, seeing a movie or sporting event. Of course if you prefer to relax on campus you always have that opportunity!
Dress codes vary by school. Some schools adhere to a strict dress code that may include a tie, collared dress shirt and jacket for the boys and specific skirts, shirts and sweaters for the girls. Other schools have a more relaxed dress code asking only that the students dress appropriately with no torn jeans, short skirts, hoodies or sweats for example.
All schools maintain health and wellness facilities on site. Should a student need additional medical care, however, the school administration or the Host family will oversee that the student gets the required care necessary at a local doctor or hospital. They are always supported!
