WHY STUDY AT A PRIVATE SCHOOL IN THE USA?

Private school education in America occurs in small, nurturing, academic environments. These institutions offer reduced number of students per classroom, low student/teacher ratio, consistent professional development for their faculty in their specialty and personalized dedication to the student. In this category, parents and students can choose a desired location throughout the USA. They can find a school that meets the specific profile of the student including desired areas of academics, sports and activities, tailoring the right fit for the child. Students can come to a school for a full academic year (September to June) or for one semester (September to December or January to June). Acceptance requirements vary by school providing flexibility for our students. We will help children find the right fit taking into consideration their academic expectations and their level of English. Many of our schools offer an English as a Second Language “ESL” course to support the transition to the English language. These High Schools are not international schools but are typical American private schools whose students are local and only accept a small number of foreign students. As a result, enrollment fills up quickly but true cultural immersion into American day to day life is a guarantee.

OPTIONS

We represent schools located throughout the United States. You can choose between warmer climates near the sea, or colder ones where you can enjoy winter sports. Schools offer a variety of sports such as soccer, football, basketball, swimming, golf, tennis, volleyball or skiing and extracurricular activities are plentiful including school band, choir, language clubs, chess, computers, dance or theater. Some have flexible admission requirements regarding the student’s academic and linguistic history, and others offer high academic standards with advanced level courses and honors. Several of the schools are religious in nature which allows high-quality institutions available at suitable prices since they are financed through their dioceses. At these schools, students are usually required to participate in a religion class, however, all other religious commitments are not required, other than respect for others and appropriate behavior.

The percentage of American students who attend these schools and move on to American universities is very high. This leads to a motivating, academic and positive atmosphere for the development of the student.

ACCOMMODATIONS

There are two living options: Host families or residence living:

HOST FAMILIES: The families are selected and supervised by local coordinators. In many cases the Host family will have a specific relationship with the school that the student plans on attending such as an alumni relationship, a faculty member or a local family whose children attend the school. They are welcoming homes where the student is treated as another member of the family. During the course of the child’s experience in the USA, the coordinator supervises the student’s well-being with the family on a monthly basis.

All host families undergo national criminal background checks, in-home interviews, and complete home inspections. You can expect your host family to live in close proximity to your selected school. You will have a private bedroom, an agreed upon meal plan, and will be immersed in local customs and culture. Many students enjoy activities with their local family and become life-long friends.

RESIDENTIAL LIVING: The residences can be located on the school campus itself or within the local community. These homes have comfortable bedrooms for the students usually consisting of double occupancy and are always supervised by a school official who lives with them. The school representative is always overseeing that the students are enjoying their sports and cultural activities but keeping up with their school subjects too.
